Toontrack has announced the release of a collection of grooves and fills inspired by classic and modern funk.
Played by session drummer Bill Burns, the Funk Foundations MIDI collection conains a total of 12 “songs” and close to 400 individually played files.
Born from the syncopation and cadence of jazz combined with the swagger of blues, funk has become the definition of groove. It has virtually transformed music history and in its wake given birth to several new genres like hip-hop and disco. In this MIDI pack, session drummer Bill Burns explores the vast archives of funk-related music from the trailblazing 1970s through to today. Get ready for a groove journey that encompasses all the traits of funk as we know them – the syncopated backbeats, the deep pockets, the gritty chops and constant push and pull.
Also available is the Hip-Hop Handbook MIDI pack, a collection of 490+ individually played drum MIDI inspired by three decades of hip-hop: the 1990s, the 2000s and the 2010s.
Get ready for a journey spanning 30 years of groove evolution – from loose, break-driven swing to tight pockets and repetitive patterns, all performed with that naturally swung, imperfect human feel intact. In hip-hop, groove is the blueprint for any effective beat. With this pack, you won’t skip a single one.
The packs are available to purchase for 29 USD/EUR each at Best Service and from the Toontrack store.
