Toontrack has recently released a new MIDI pack which pinpoints grooves and fills inspired by four defining eras of pop and rock. The Groove Legacy MIDI pack by Darby Todd paints a broad scope of iconic drum traditions that have shaped the sound of generations.
In this drum MIDI pack, live and session powerhouse Darby Todd taps into defining drum styles and grooves that helped shape pop and rock as we know it. Starting in the ’60s, he explores slightly loose, song-driven backbeats, before moving into the pocket-heavy shuffles and funk-infused rhythms of the ’70s – two eras with distinctly different voices. From there, he jumps to the ’80s to tackle big, over-the-top, anthem-like grooves, finally landing in the raw, grunge-inspired feel of the ’90s.
Rather than zeroing in on full song structures, this MIDI pack dives deep into grooves and fills. In total, 16 “songs” are included, each featuring roughly 10 unique fills and 20 groove variations that share a common feel – making them easy to mix and match and use within the same arrangement.
The MIDI packs is priced 29 USD/EUR at Best Service and from the Toontrack store.
