ViatorDSP has introduced a versatile distortion plugin that aims to offer a sonically-rich alternative to popular analog-style distortion tools.
Ripper combines multiple distortion models with flexible tone shaping and dynamic control, allowing anything from subtle harmonic enhancement to aggressive saturation and sound design.
At its core, Ripper provides a Drive control to push the signal into distortion and a Mix control for parallel processing, making it easy to blend distortion with the original signal to achieve subtle effects. A Tone knob controlling a tilt filter allows quick adjustment of overall brightness or weight, while dedicated high-pass and low-pass filters enable precise control over the affected frequency range.
Ripper features an analog mode with Moog-style ladder filters, optional +15dB input boost, and a built-in meter for clear visual feedback on how much the signal is being distorted.
The plugin is a “pay what you like” download (including free) for Windows, Mac and Linux (VST3/AU).
