The Vienna Symphonic Library has announced the release of a new collection dedicated to the distinctive sound of straight-muted brass, alongside three all-new single packs. Recorded on the large Stage A of Vienna Synchron Stage, these instruments deliver a sharp, focused, and characterful brass sound.
Synchron Brass (muted) opens up a world of distinctive brass colors.
Expertly performed by top-tier musicians of the Vienna Synchron Orchestra, every instrument was recorded with a straight mute – the technique that narrows and sharpens the open brass tone into something more focused, nasal, and full of edge. These colors range from hushed and distant to bright and penetrating, from the noir intimacy of a single voice to the biting power of a full section. Recorded in pristine acoustics of the Hollywood-proven Stage A of Vienna Synchron Stage, these instruments add striking character to any project.
The Synchron Brass (muted) Collection is currently available at introductory prices of $290 USD (regular $368 USD) for the Standard Library and $480 USD (regular $604 USD) for the Full Library, which has additional microphone positions.
It includes three new single packs which bring a distinct character to the muted brass family. Synchron Tenor Trombone (muted) is sharp, nasal, and full of attitude. Synchron Bass Trombone (muted) sharpens the dark voice of the low brass into something tight, snarling, and intensely focused. Synchron Tenor Trombone Ensemble (muted) unites a full section of straight-muted tenor trombones, ranging from hushed, distant harmonies to sharp, cutting stabs.
The collection has also become the new home for the previously released Synchron Trumpet (Bb, muted) and Synchron Trumpet Ensemble (muted), and owners of these libraries can complete the collection at additional savings.
