The Vienna Symphonic Library has announced the release of the first two installments of a new line of muted solo string instruments recorded on the large Stage A of Vienna Synchron Stage. Performed by Vienna Synchron Orchestra concertmaster Marina Dimitrova and first chair cellist Florian Eggner, Synchron Solo Violin 1 (sordino) and Synchron Solo Cello (sordino) capture the distinct, silky character of muted string playing in extraordinary detail.
There is a special magic to the muted voice of a string instrument. Placing a mute on the bridge does more than soften the sound – it invites musicians to approach the instrument in a different way, reshaping bow pressure, phrasing, and dynamics to draw out a warmer, silkier tone. It is a sound that has colored countless film scores, concert works, and intimate passages, and the new sordino collections preserve this expressive playing style with the same precision and authenticity that define the original Synchron Solo Strings.
Both instruments are currently available at introductory prices of $144 USD (regular $189 USD) for each Standard Library and $200 USD (regular $267 USD) for each Full Library. To mark the occasion, VSL is also launching an Early Bird Offer on the Synchron Solo Strings Bundle (sordino) and a comprehensive promotion on all original Synchron Solo Strings collections.
The offer is available at Best Service and from the VSL store until June 30th, 2026.
