Viiri Audio has announced the release of a new audio plugin which aims to push convolution into new territories. Aava is designed to offer creative possibilities never seen before.
Aava can modulate all parameters of an impulse response in real-time without glitches or fade outs, changing the start time, length, pitch and timing of the IR while playback is happening. Even at audio rates.
Load in up to four impulse responses to blend and layer sounds, each with its own set of parameters. Switch between pitched and rhythmic IR modes to make the most of each. Pitched IRs can be key tracked and rhythmic IRs can sync to host tempo.
Another unique feature for a convolution processor, Aava’s Explore Map saves snapshots of the entire plugin state as nodes which you can interpolate between in an X/Y interface.
Aava features
- Key Features
- Layer up to four Impulse Responses.
- Modulate IRs in real time, including start and end times.
- Explore Map takes entire plugin states (including all parameters) as nodes allowing you to interpolate between them.
- Modulation
- Four modulator slots with a choice of LFO, Sample & Hold, AD Envelope, AR Envelope, Envelope Follower or Key Follower.
- Modulation Matrix lets you view all modulation routes at a glance.
- Choose the Refresh rate of the IR when modulating, from 1ms to 1s, balancing real-time performance and CPU load, or sync to host tempo for creative effects.
- Pitch and Sync
- Pitch the Impulse Response up to six octaves up or down with optional pitch quantization.
- Key Follow to pitch IRs via MIDI to follow or create a melody or more creative uses.
- Sync rhythmic IRs to your host tempo and divide/multiply their speed.
- Recording
- Record your own IRs in real-time.
- Choose your source from the plugin’s Input, Sidechain or Wet Output for resampling.
- Trim selected range or silence to remove gaps, especially useful when recording your own IRs.
- General
- Tone control tilts between low and high frequency balance in the IR.
- Pre Delay control to offset the start of the wet convolution signal.
- Gain, Width and Pan controls for each of the four IRs.
- Low & High Pass Filters for the wet signal.
- Single-knob Spectral Compressor for the wet signal.
- Wet gain.
- Dry/Wet blend control.
- Bypass control.
Available in VST3 and CLAP formats for Windows, Mac and Linux, Aava is on sale for the intro price of €79 EUR / $79 USD / £69 GBP until June 15th, 2026 (regular €99 EUR / $99 USD / £89 GBP). A fully functional 30-day trial is available to try the plugin.
