Following the highly acclaimed releases of HCL Islander and HCL Varis, Wavegrove has introduced a new audio plugin in collaboration with Tape Over. Mariform fuses analog transformer behavior with carefully tuned harmonic control for an organic, musical response.
At the heart of Mariform lies a custom transformer, engineered to deliver realistic transformer saturation. Whether you’re aiming for subtle warmth or rich, harmonically complex drive, Mariform provides an authentic sound through its movement, tonality and character.
Mariform is made for instruments, groups and the mix bus. Need a huge low end with harmonics? Done. Nasty spikes from guitars and drum cymbals? No flux given. A flat sounding stem? Not anymore. Mid range needs some sweet old character? As if baked by your grandmother.
Mariform features
- Drive: Adjust the intensity of harmonic saturation
- Area: Choose the target frequency zone: Low, Mid, or High.
- Area Spectrum Control: Fine-tune each range with three independent saturation points.
- Impedance: Adds natural, dynamic movement
- Tone: Follows signal dynamics for organic tonal response.
- Bump: Introduces extra energy.
- MariAir: A smooth high-frequency shelf EQ for air and openness.
- Clipper (Pre/Post): Choose to clip before or after saturation.
- Mid/Side Processing: Apply saturation to mono or side channels for controlled depth or width.
- High Cut & Low Cut: Limit the processing to your desired frequency range.
- Calibration: Control the overall depth and impedance response.
- Input & Output Gain: Adjust gain staging for optimal harmonic drive.
- Blend: Mix between dry and processed signals.
- Stereo Balance: Refine stereo placement.
- Mid/Side Balance: Adjust the relationship between mid and side content.
