Witech has announced the release of an update to its TheDrumSource, a free instrument plugin for Windows and Mac.
TheDrumSource is a sample based drum machine with a built in browser and sequencer. It is designed to have a simple, clean interface and fast workflow.
Several previous features have been deprecated to prioritize compatibility and performance. The main focus of this release was to ensure TheDrumSource works on 64-bit Windows and macOS.
Changes in TheDrumSource v3.0
- Full support for 64-bit Windows (32-bit support has been dropped).
- Added support for macOS.
- Parameter automation is now available for the following: Mute/Solo, Channel Pan, Channel Volume, Channel Pitch, Channel Swing, Channel Length, Master Volume, Stop/Run/Sync/MIDI, Channel Previous/Next, and Channel Play.
- Multiple instances of TheDrumSource plugins can now run simultaneously in a DAW.
- Pattern changes now respond to note-off messages. This means you can play only a portion of the pattern. For example, create a snare build by placing a snare on step 1 and restarting the pattern as needed.
Note that the arrow buttons are currently non-functional on macOS, and support for many sound file formats has been dropped to simplify implementation on macOS. WAV and AIFF formats are currently supported, and additional formats may be added in future updates based on user demand.
The plugin is available to download for free in VST3 and AU plugin formats from the Witech website.
