ARPocalypse
ARPocalypse is a
8 step rhythmic pattern generator VST effect.
Simply put it takes chords of up to six notes and plays them in a
predefined sequence in sync with your sequencer. ARPocalypse is only available for PC. There’s a screenshot at the bottom of
this page.
News
6th July 2004 – Reposted Version 1.01 . Some error with FTP caused the screen to become corrupted. 1,000 apologies
2nd
July 2004 – Version 1.01 released. Slighty increased the
contrast in the Matrix to make it easier to see. Now runs as a VSTi as well as VST effect. This simplifies the use of the plug-in and
no longer means you need to run it as an audio effect. Please see the instruction page for
further details.
30 June 2004 –
Version 1.0 released.
Demos
The following
tracks give an idea of what ARPocalypse is capable off. I made them whilst developing
ARPocalypse. I make no apologies for
the quality or musicianship in the demos – they’re here to give you a flavour
of what it can do.
Arp Demo
1 (874k) - Three instances of ARPocalypse driving three
instances of the a1 synth in Cubase SX2. Drums from Stylus. The
three instances of ARPocalypse are being feed with the same MIDI track – which is
four, four bar, six note chords.
Arp Demo
2 (874k) - Again three instances of
ARPocalypse driving three instances of the a1 synth in Cubase SX2. Drums from Stylus. The three instances of ARPocalypse are being feed with the same
MIDI track played live.
Arp Demo
3 (812k) - A single held four note
minor chord through ARPocalypse feeds into Lounge Lizard (processed with some
delay) in Cubase SX2. A little bit of
automation brings in extra notes to add interest. Drums from Stylus, bass from Trilogy. The three instances of ARPocalypse are being feed with the same
MIDI track played live.
Everybody
Deserves Music (2.9M) - It ain’t easy being cheesy.
There’s some ARPocalypse in there.
ARPocalypse is
currently free. However if you like it
and use it a lot perhaps you’d consider donating a small amount of money. The price of a couple of pints of beer seems
reasonable if you do like it. It will
also encourage me to development more ideas.

There’s no downloadable
manual at the moment, but instructions for use can be found here.
Want to try
it? Download it from here then.

Great thanks to
Tobybear for his Delphi template and answering my questions when getting
started.
Thanks to all at
the kvr-vst developers forum for their help and keeping me inspired by their
work. Especially to aldi who help me
with my tempo syncing issue. If you’re
into VSTs you should visit www.kvr-vst.com.
Got an idea for
a plugin? Well don’t send it to
me. Invest a bit time like did and
learn to develop your own. It’s really
not that hard if you’ve ever programmed before.
You use
ARPocalypse at your own risk. It has
been tested extensively with Cubase SX 2.2 and works fine.
ARPocalypse is supported on a best endeavours basis. Any bug reports should be sent to ARPocalypse@wiz.nildram.co.uk. I’m just one guy and take holidays so please don’t be upset if I take some time to reply.
