Zynaptiq has announced the release of Unfilter, an adaptive tonal contour linearization effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.
UNFILTER is a real-time plug-in that removes filtering effects, such as comb filtering, resonance, or excessive equalization – effectively linearizing the frequency response of a signal automatically.
UNFILTER can also apply a detected filter response to another signal, or export it to disk as an impulse response file (WAV), and can perform mastering grade adaptive, free-form, and graphic equalization. Applications include removing room resonance, repairing poorly mic’d production sound or musical recordings, enhancing the intelligibility of speech recordings in film sound, broadcast, ENG and forensics, adapting multiple sounds to blend better with each other, adaptively re-balancing the frequency response of mixed music, general purpose high resolution automatic equalization, and creatively designing new sounds.
Unfilter features
Automatically detect and remove resonances, equalization, roll-offs and the effects of comb filtering from musical, location, dialog and surveillance recordings.
Apply the measured filter response to other signals to place them in the same “acoustic world”.
Export the measured filter response to or import it from a linear- or minimum-phase impulse response file (WAV).
Mastering grade adaptive, free-form and graphic equalization.
Plogue has announced the release of Chipcrusher, an advanced bitcrusher, a speaker simulator and noise machine effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.
Chipcrusher features DAC Encoding, Background Noise and Post-Processing.
It’s an audio effect which plays back input audio through a simulation of early lofi digital audio codecs (DAC Encoding), adds grit (Background Noise), and outputs through a selection of speaker and filter impulse responses (Post-Processing).
It can work as a VST/AU/RTAS plug-in for most major sequencing audio programs and supported tracker programs on Windows and OS X.
There is a wide spectrum of results achievable with chipcrusher. Here’s a few use cases:
Uniquely destroy/mangle a beat, a guitar or any other audio track.
Play single hits and emulate the sound of old samplers.
Add ‘accurate dirt’ to chipsounds’s output.
Etc.
Chipcrusher for Windows and Mac is available to purchase for $39 ex. VAT.
Audio Damage has announced the release of Mangleverb, a new multi effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.
What happens when you combine a thick reverb, a filter, an envelope follower, an LFO, and a VCA? We wanted to know. The results are surprisingly useful. Mangleverb can be used as a filter, reverb, transient shaper, rhythmic gate, LPF gate, tempo-synced VCA, and any combination thereof. It is, for all intents and purposes, a Swiss Army Knife, for both wild sonic destruction and more utilitarian production work.
Mangleverb is audio damage’s newest multi-effect plug-in for sonic troublemakers.
Mangleverb features
Simple-to-use algorithmic reverb that can be either pre- or post-filter/VCA.
A monster resonant filter model with lowpass, bandpass, and highpass modes, and a drive circuit for gritty distortion.
Sophisticated tempo-synced LFO with waveshaper to create all common (and some uncommon) modulation shapes.
Envelope follower with internal, LFO, sidechain input, and MIDI trigger modes.
Feedback path and modulated VCA for final signal taming.
Mangleverb for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) is available to purchase for $49 USD.
Sinevibes has announced the release of Malfunction, a new circuit-bent filter AudioUnit plugin for Mac.
Malfunction is a unique tool for extreme sound destruction.
This effect is based on a special low-pass filter that has been “circuit-bent” – that is, the algorithm has messed up internal connections and doesn’t operate normally. It produces a characterful, screaming distortion that is full of attitude and puts out various unpredictable but controllable buzzes and noises.
Malfunction features a flexible tempo-synchronised LFO with four waveforms, innovative per-cycle random mode and variable smoothness. It can be used to modulate the input low-pass filter, the circuit-bent filter or the output multi-mode filter – letting you easily do complex sound destruction and morphing.
With its clean colour-coded interface, Malfunction is very intuitive to work with. The logical control layout and responsive graphics make sure you always see what’s doing what without having to ever consult the user manual.
Malfunction for Mac (AU) is available to purchase for $19 USD.
