Krakli S3K

Krakli has released a free version of S3K, a synth VST instrument for Windows PC.

Krakli writes:

An S3 ‘mono’ synth with a whole load of attitude. Complete with 64 excellent patches from himalaya, S3K attempts to fuse retro sounds with a hard modern edge. Octaver, Ring mod and arpeggiators are added in addition to the normal Echo, Phase and Reverb effects. For the best effect make sure that you use the modulation wheel to its full potential.

Krakli has released S3B, a freeware string machine VST instrument for Windows PC.

The next in the line of S3 plugs, this one takes the S3 concept and makes it just a little more flexible. This plugin also contains the Pulse module which can be used to create a number of different Rythmic effects.

S3B features

  • Oscillator with Width, Move and Amount controls.
  • Noise with Tone and Amount controls.
  • ADSR.
  • Vibrato with Delay, Rate and Amount controls.
  • Waveforms: Sine, Square, Triangle, Saw, Soft Ramp, Peak Ramp, Ramp, Peak, Octava, Cluster 1, Cluster 2
  • Pulse module for rhythmic effects.
  • Effects: Phaze, Reverb, Ens., Echo, Filter.
  • FX mix for Ens., Reverb and Echo.
  • Arpeggiator: Clock, various modes, 1-4 Octaves, Key & Hold.

Note: the current version crashes in FL Studio 8. A fix should be available shortly from Image-Line, but Krakli might release another version before that so check the Krakli site if you’re on FL Studio 8.

Top Freeware Picks – January 2008

Bootsy TesslaSE v1.0

The new year started off well with tons of new and updated freeware VST effect and instrument plugins.

Here are my top picks of January in random order.

  1. TesslaSE by Bootsy.
This effect plug-in does some tube+digital magic in the area of signal saturation and coloration.
  2. S3 by Krakli.
Can we ever have enough string machine emulators? I think not!
  3. Prophanity by Roberson Audio.
This one does a great job emulating the classic Prophet 5 synth. Must check if you like VA type synths.
  4. GTG 44 S by GTG Synths.
Mik’s plug-ins are always top notch and this six voice VA type synth is no exception. Great for those oldskool analog type sounds, fat leads etc.

The plug-ins listed above are all freely available in VST format for Windows PC.

Krakli Bel Free

Krakli has released a free version of Bel, a slightly different version from the Bell/Chime VSTi in the YAVA2 package.

Bel Free has an additional sync knob which is used to pregessively lock the 4 oscillators to the note freq. It should enable more synthetic (but more predictable) tones to be made.

You can download Bel Free here.
