SampleTekk White Grand MkII

SampleTekk has launched White Grand MkII, a piano instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

When we recorded the White Grand and the White Sister our goal was not to create ”the ultimate Grand Piano”. Since a Grand Piano can be used in so many ways, from playing Mozart to hammer out Jerry Lee or Little Richard stuff and everything in between, we realized that there isn’t anything that could be considered ”The ultimate Grand Piano” in the world of multisampled instruments.

We wanted to make the ”Ultimate Studio Grand Piano” that would work in a recording session for more contemporary styles of music. It would simply sit well in a mix!

We very lucky enough to find this fantastic instrument, an old, LARGE, Malmsjö Grand piano from around 1910, that had the clarity needed to work in a modern production, but also, at the same time, had the richness at well contoured bass side that would provide the power needed on the lower part of the keyboard without getting muddy.

White Grand MkII features

  • 16 velocity levels.
  • More than 2,900 samples.
  • TimeVel Release Technology.
  • Sympathetic Resonance.
  • Real Pedaling.
  • Controllable volume for key/pedal noise.
  • Two different mixable microphone perspectives.
  • Controllable volume for Sympathetic Resonance and Resonance.
  • 24 bit 44.1 stereo samples.

The library is available at a 25% introductory discount, priced at $149.25 USD until June 23rd, 2014 (regular $199 USD). SampleTekk is also offering a 50% discount on all orders until June 30th, 2014.

HeadlessBuddha Samples releases Grandpa Toy Piano for Kontakt

HeadlessBuddha Samples has launched Grandpa Toy Piano, a toy piano instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt.

HeadlessBuddha Samples Grandpa Toy Piano

It’s not perfectly tuned, it’s a worn and aged little piano, it’s got a lot of character, it makes some noise when we release some keys, and it’s beautiful.

Obviously we at HeadlessBuddha Samples sampled this 60’s toy through some worn cassette tape but this time we wanted to capture more subtleties and details than we usually do, so we spent a lot of time and energy on it. I think it’s our best Kontakt instrument to date and we’re very proud to present it to you.

Grandpa Toy Piano features

  • 7 velocity layers and 2 round robins per note plus release samples.
  • 1 Kontakt instrument.
  • 44.1kHz/24 bit .wav format.
  • All recorded through cassette tape.
  • A set of 18 custom impulse responses.
  • 550Mb installed.

The library is available for purchase for $35 USD.

Garrian XFX Concert Grand

MakeMusic and Abbey Road Studios have announced the release Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Concert Grand, a new virtual piano instrument.

To create this new instrument, Yamaha’s flagship CFX Concert Grand piano was recorded in Abbey Road Studios’ historic Studio One by renowned engineers, blending the latest technology with legendary equipment and acoustics.

“We are very pleased to announce that we have released the CFX Concert Grand,” said Gary Garritan, MakeMusic director of instrumental sciences. “This is the most detailed and advanced project our team has completed. We are honored to have this partnership with Abbey Road Studios, and the support of Yamaha, and are excited about the enthusiastic reaction this virtual piano has received so far. Today we’re proud to make an instrument with this kind of power, richness and clarity available to everyone.”

Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Concert Grand provides users three discrete microphone perspectives:

  • Classic – captures the natural tonal character, clarity and nuance of the CFX.
  • Contemporary – produces a bright and brilliant sound with definitive attack from the hammers.
  • Player – delivers the unique experience of playing from the piano bench in Studio One.

The CFX Concert Grand includes the powerful ARIA player, and is designed to be a perfect addition to music notation-based programs, like Finale, as well as to all sequencers and digital audio workstations.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Gary and the MakeMusic team on the CFX project,” said Mirek Stiles, head of audio products at Abbey Road Studios. “The ability to mix both close and ambient signals, as if you are in Studio One, is simply breathtaking. This beautifully sampled instrument is worthy of the Abbey Road Studios name.”

The CFX Concert Grand is available for purchase for $299.95 USD.
