Zenhiser TR-808 The Drum Machine

Zenhiser has launched TR-808 The Drum Machine, a sample pack featuring a collection of 1,437 sound and beats from the TR-808 drum machine by Roland.

Authentic Roland TR-808’s in perfect condition have become harder and harder to find year on year so here at Zenhiser we decided it was time to sample the hell out of a perfect condition TR 808, then run it through some awesome analogue gear and deliver a pinnacle pack of TR-808 drum sounds plus a superbly programmed array of drum loops that have spanned the 808 decades. We really went to town with the drum sampling of this 808 drum machine, developing new techniques of takes with altering decay and tone times to give you the music producer as much control as if you actually owned this awesome drum machine. Every preset has been sampled to perfection and quickly folder’d for ease of use so all you need to do is assign the drum samples to your DAW or sampler and voila, you have an authentic Roland TR-808 right there in your studio, ready to use and abuse!

To make the package even sweeter we spent hours creating similar versions of authentic drum beats from the decades ranging in bpm from 88 to 170, over 560 drum loops in total, now that’s a huge library of drum loops any producer in EDM or retro freak can not refuse. Just have a look at the specs below to see how comprehensive this drum machine pack really is, and as far as we know there is no other 808 sample pack this dedicated, detailed and comprehensive anywhere in the world.

The sample pack costs $35 AUD.

Roland announces marketing partnership with QSC

Roland / QSC

Roland Corporation and QSC Audio Products have announced a new marketing partnership promoting the concept of electronic and hybrid percussion as a whole and showcasing the pairing of V-Drums and K Series amplification as a total solution.

Roland V-Drums products are known worldwide as the foremost in electronic percussion, and QSC K Series monitors have become the gold standard in electronic percussion amplification. QSC has a long history of making high quality products, and K Series monitors are a perfect solution for amplifying the excellent dynamic response and sound set of Roland V-Drums.

Drummers have come to trust V-Drums for great playability, tactile dynamic response, silent mesh heads, supreme sound and editing capability, innovation, and industrial design. Creating the sounds of authentic acoustic drums, standard and exotic percussion instruments, as well as current and vintage electronic drums are all possible with V-Drums, giving the instruments a well-founded seat in today’s mainstream percussion domain. But in order for drummers to access the full capabilities of their V-Drums instruments, proper amplification is key. Extremely responsive electronic drums need a very unique kind of stage amplification that is accurate, has wide bandwidth, and is capable of keeping up with guitar amps and other amplified instruments.

“Musicians have recognized that K Series speakers are a great choice for electronic instrument amplification. With that in mind, we’re delighted to be working with Roland to spread the word about how well K Series and V-Drums go together,” said QSC Vice President of Marketing Gerry Tschetter.

QSC products are known for their innovation, value, and performance in the marketplace, and QSC’s K Series family of loudspeakers offers studio-quality reinforcement for V-Drums. V-Drums have a musical dynamic response that standard amplification cannot replicate. The amplification system needs dynamic headroom to accommodate transients, a frequency response to accurately render the high frequencies of a cymbal, and the power to produce a satisfying kick drum, all coming from V-Drums. This is also true when utilizing a hybrid kit consisting of acoustic drums and Roland percussion instruments. K Series amplifier systems are more than capable of playing at volumes that can not only drive the rhythm of the music with authority but also maintain a consistent Roland sound all across the listening area and throughout the full frequency spectrum.

“Roland is very happy to be working closely with QSC to give drummers exactly what they need to offer up their best performances. The combination of a Roland V-Drums percussion system and a QSC K Series instrument amplifier are made for each other and are one of the recommended amplification systems by Roland,” said Roland Corporation U.S. Vice President Paul Youngblood.

Hollow Sun releases vKS20 instrument for Kontakt

Related: , , , Posted in news on Jan 07, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Hollow Sun has launched vKS20, a virtual Roland MKS20 digital piano instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Hollow Sun vKS20

We’ve added our own sounds (the ‘EXTRAS’) and added split and layer modes and extra effects in the form of delay and convolution reverb, a stereo enhancer and have brought the 3-band EQ to the front panel rather than hidden away in a bunch of arcane menus as it was on the original. And of course, polyphony is not an issue.

We’ve kept the essential ‘form factor’ and for normal use – you simply click on the buttons to select a sound – couldn’t be simpler. But we also added layering and keysplits.

We also couldn’t resist playing with the LCD. Whereas the original had a contrast control, you can change the colour on the vKS20… Not just that but we’ve added synth functions in the form of ADSR envelopes for amplitude and the filter not possible on the original…

vKS20 features

  • 48kHz/24-Bit.
  • Full length samples.
  • Layering and Split modes.
  • Extra sounds.
  • Tremolo/autopan, chorus/phaser/flanger, echo.
  • Convolution reverbs.

The library is available to purchase for £20 GBP.

AudioRealism releases ReDominator for Reason

AudioRealism ReDominator

AudioRealism has released ReDominator, a polyphonic synthesizer Rack Extension for Propellerhead Reason.

ReDominator is an emulation of the classic Alpha Juno 1/2 (JU-1/2), a polyphonic DCO (digitally controlled oscillator) based synth from 1986.

The JU-1/2 became popular in the early 90′s techno and rave scene particularly by the classic Hoover sound (which ReDominator attempts to emulate accurately). But beyond those niche sounds there lays a versatile synthesizer that does bass, pads, leads, organs and a lot of other sounds waiting to be discovered!

ReDominator features

  • Accurate emulation of the Alpha Juno 1/2 including the famous Hoover patch.
  • 14 different low aliasing waveforms including a unique PWM-sawtooth.
  • High quality full range 24dB/octave low-pass filter.
  • Unique 8 parameter envelope generator which enable much more complicated and expressive sounds than a standard ADSR.
  • External audio input to the filter.
  • 200+ bundled patches (of which many are sysex converted from our own JU-2).
  • External Patch converter (beta) to convert sysex patches from your own Alpha Juno and play them in ReDominator.

ReDominator is available to purchase for 45 EUR.
