Samplephonics has released 808, a drum machine sample library.
4599 samples, 3 input sources (Clean, Studar Tape Machine, and Overdriven Tape), custom sequencer for Kontakt 5, sampler instruments for Ableton Sampler, Reason NN-XT, EXS24 and Kontakt 4, and multiple sample rates available. Quite simply, the most comprehensive 808 sample library ever built.
Each part of the insturment was faithfully sampled over and over again to capture the true sound of the instrument. This allowed us to recreate all of the functions of the 808, as well as add extra features. Velocity mapping and round robin layering combine to reproduce the subtleties that only a true analogue machine can create.
The Kontakt 5 version of Samplephonics 808 includes a custom sequencer.

DyVision Works has announced the release of the VideoTape Emulator, an effect plugin that emulates the classic and imperfect texture imparted to audio recorded on video tape.
Take your perfectly good audio and mangle it with an emulation of analog video tape.
Towards the end of its technological life cycle video tape had surprisingly good audio quality. But as anybody who remembers the 80s, video rental stores, and ‘video nasties’ knows, this was not always the case. VCRs & tape could impart an almost overbearing sonic signature to audio material due to factors such as :
- Stretched, worn, or mangled tape - Misaligned heads or rollers - Sticky reels - Demagnetized tape - Magnetized heads - Inherant noise problems worsened by - Overzealous audio compressors / limiters - Poor quality ‘consumer grade’ electronics - Variation between different machines
Just like vinyl, the qualities of video tape have the ability to instantly invoke the feel of a certin era. It was considered crap at the time, but then again so were analog synthesizers.

Hideaway Studio has announced the release of Zero-1, a synthesizer sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
The Zero-1 is based on the Yamaha CS01 synthesizer.
Zero-1 is in essence a single oscillator virtual analog synthesizer (VA) loosely based on the CS01 monosynth which was released in 1982 as an affordable entry into the world of analog synthesis… but with a twist! Rather than simply sample the basic DCO oscillators from the original instrument I thought it might be more interesting to first pass them through a tube overdrive and Watkins Copicat tape delay. Mangling the raw oscillators in this manner injected a significant amount of character and movement to the original waveforms – even the splice in the tape loop adds something! Five oscillators were multi-sampled in 24-bits in this manner: triangle, sawtooth, 50% square, 25% square and PWM.
One unique feature of the Zero-1 is the ability to switch between a Mk I and Mk II CS01 filter emulation. This selects either a 12dB/oct or 24dB/oct filter and changes the livery of the control panel to match the original variants – a flash of genius by Stephen Howell at Hollow Sun!
Precious Sound has announced PreBrute, the worlds first sample based Kontakt synth based on the Arturia MiniBrute.
We were lucky to get our hands on one and decided that it would be a ideal synth to sample for our engine. We have spent many months painstakingly sampling the synth with 4 different signal chains.
Our flavour system is just that you can select along the 4 oscillators what waveform and flavour (sampling chain) to choose from, so you have 20 waveform choices but 80 possible choices per Osc including the different flavours.
While sampling PreBrute we pushed our preamps hard to imprint characteristics of the actual pre to the sound resulting in subtle/extreme changes.
We also tracked the raw sound to cassette tape using a Tascam 122mk3, we tracked at a slow speed to naturally roll off some of the high end giving the tape waveforms a really warm and smooth sound.
