Freemium (and previously browser-only) piano-learning platform Skoove has announced the launch of its iOS app.
Since its launch in 2015, the web-based platform has already provided over 200,000 piano lessons, to beginners and players with existing experience, across 187 countries. Now, with the ability to learn the piano anywhere with the aid of an iPad, Skoove is making the steps to achieving proficiency in piano-playing even easier.
Skoove brings the most effective and complete way of learning the piano, combining professional and conventional musical training with the leading breakthroughs in technology. The new interactive platform provides lessons for beginners through to advanced players.
Unlike many other music-learning apps, Skoove’s virtual guide takes the learner through every lesson, while providing real-time feedback, which listens to the player as they practice. Skoove teaches the player all elements of piano learning, including technique, improvisation and music theory.
To coincide with the iOS launch, Skoove is announcing 1.2 million EUR of fresh capital, from IBB-Bet and EGORA Holding. By joining the existing investor, High-Tech Gruenderfonds, this new investment signals both venture capital firms’ faith in the ongoing growth of the online learning market, which, according to a KPMG and CB Insights Q4 Venture Pulse study, received over $1 billion of global investment in the fourth quarter of 2015 (up 300% on the previous quarter).
Dr Florian Plenge, Co-Founder & CEO of Skoove, comments: “The injection of significant, fresh capital into Skoove will allow us to scale our operations and become a key proponent of the online learning movement, bringing quality music learning to more instruments, devices, and markets.”
Marco Zeller, Managing Director, IBB-Bet, added: “Online learning is a high-growth sector, in which we have a proven track record, and we are now backing Skoove with the aim of making them a market leader in the rapidly-growing music ed-tech sector.”
Nikolaus Zwick, Partner, EGORA Holding, added: “Skoove is a perfect addition to our network, with the company’s innovative technology providing a cornerstone to the future of online learning.”
Skoove is available worldwide in English and German. Beginners, refreshers, and intermediate players can try it out with free lessons and then upgrade to Skoove Premium to enjoy full access, one-on-one learning support, and exclusive content with new lessons and music theory tips. Skoove Premium currently starts at £8.25 GBP (UK), $9.95 USD (US.), and €9.95 EUR (Europe) per month.
The Skoove app for iPad is available to download for free from the Apple App store with freemium options available.
