Kilohearts has announced an easy-to-use, versatile and sonically transparent equalizer plugin for mixing, mastering and sound design.
Carve EQ gives you access to a powerful under-the-hood filtering system via an efficient and intuitive set of tools. It’s also compatible with Kilohearts’ Snap Heap and Multipass effects rack plugins, making it part of the broader modular Snapins system as well as a self-contained processor.
Designing your perfect equalisation curve in Carve EQ’s responsive graphical interface couldn’t be easier. Use the Sculpting tool to cut or boost width-adjustable peaking bands, the Pencil tool to draw freehand, and the Point Select tool to drag breakpoints around in the curve. Left and right or mid and sides channels can be tweaked together in linked mode, or unlinked for editing as two independent curves. Alternatively, if you’d rather the hard work was done for you, switch to the Match tool to capture the frequency profile of one track or sound and apply it to another.
Carve EQ also features a responsive spectral analyser, showing you exactly what effect your frequency adjustments are having on the signal, and enabling a range of onboard genre-based profiles, any imported WAV or a live sidechain input to be used for monitoring reference. The resizable GUI is readily adaptable to any workspace, while the the curve editor encourages musicality as well as precision by describing the current mouse pointer position in both Hz and note name.
Surgical enough to handle the gamut of mixing duties, and with the all smoothness and transparency required for a place in the mastering chain, Carve EQ is the ultimate creative and corrective frequency shaping toolbox.
Carve EQ (VST/AU/AAX) will be available from November 16th, 2017, priced at 79 EUR.
