Nick’s Tutorials has released Sound Design with the Operator Synthesizer in Ableton Live, the third tutorial series for users of Ableton Live.
This series continues in the style of the first sound design series, but this time focusing on the world of FM synthesis and the unique timbres that these techniques can render.
One of the main goals of the series was to explain FM synthesis in a way that is accessible and practical, doing away with heavily mathematical descriptions in favor of learning through practical application. Along the way the viewer will learn how to create drums, pads, textures, and many things in between.
Additionally, there is a solid grounding in how timbres are built from harmonic and inharmonic overtones, and how this knowledge relates to the Operator interface.
Sound Design with the Operator Synthesizer features
- 4 hours of video tutorials.
- 9 Operator presets available to be reverse-engineered during the viewing of the tutorials.
- All the material and device presets included with the series are up to date for Ableton Live 8, especially taking advantage of Operator’s newly-added partial editor.
