Synapse Audio has announced the release of EKS-9, a software synth plug-in dedicated to creating powerful electronic bass drum sounds, reminiscent of vintage hardware.
Its virtual analog engine is not only capable of authentic recreations of the sounds from such machines, but can synthesize new kick sounds with lots of punch too! For this reason, it should not miss in any electronic music producer’s plugin arsenal.
EKS-9 features
- 808 and 909 modes, each with their own, characteristic sound. It goes far beyond the capabilities of vintage analog hardware, however, and introduces new parameters, most importantly it offers precise control of the pitch. Additionally, despite the fundamentally different models employed, all parameters apply equally to both the 808 and 909 mode.
- User interface is organized into four sections controlling the pitch, the amplitude and pitch envelopes, the attack stage and finally pitch modulation. This layout makes it simple and straightforward to program your own patches or modify existing ones.

The EKS-9 is available as an instrument plug-in for PC and Mac (VST/AU), for the introductory promotional price of $39 USD during the first month (regular $49 USD).
