IK Multimedia has announced an update to the SampleTron 2 analog tape-based virtual instrument that recreates the distinctive, ultra-vibey sounds of tape-based samplers from the ‘60s and ‘70s, along with quirky early digital sample players and vocoders.
The update adds 20 new presets and some key features and fixes to enhance everyone’s workflow.
The Lost String Quartet is a free that includes 4 new solo string instruments: Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, and Cello, recorded to tape many years ago by Erik Norlander and recently rediscovered inside a storage vault. Together in SampleTron 2, they add 20 presets and 30 MB of sample content to explore.
All 4 string instruments have a dramatic and sweeping vibrato that complements perfectly all of the classic Mellotron samples already inside SampleTron 2. They’ll quickly become some of your favorites.
IK has also announced that version 2.0.3 of SampleTron 2 for Windows and Mac brings native compatibility with Apple M1 processors to IK’s popular collection of vintage and tape-based samplers. As a result, Total Studio 3.5 MAX is one step closer to full native compatibility.
