discoDSP has released an update to the OB-Xd free virtual instrument based on the Oberheim OB-X polyphonic analog subtractive synthesizer.
OB-Xd is based on the Oberheim OB-X. It attempts to recreate its sound and behavior, but as the original was very limited in some important ways a number of things were added or altered to the original design. OB-Xd was designed to sound as good and as rich as the original. It implements micro random detuning which is a big part of that sound.
Changes in OB-Xd v2.11
- MIDI Channel (All and 1-16) selection at Config menu.
- Esc and Intro keypress support for Rename Preset and New Preset.
- Save Preset renamed as Save to Preset Slot.
- Added Save Preset to Disk to export active preset to Documents > discoDSP > OB-Xd > Presets folder.
- Simplified version number display.
OB-Xd is available to download for Windows, macOS and Linux in standalone, VST and AU formats. The paid version ($49 USD) includes VST3, AAX and LV2 support.
