UVI has announced the release of a new hand-crafted collection of analog, organic, and synthetic sources, melding the sounds of contemporary scoring with a gritty cinematic edge.
A multi-layer instrument built on hand-crafted samples, all designed, recorded, and processed by Venus Theory, Noctua combines the worlds of hardware synthesis and boutique effects to deliver an exquisite collection of sprawling soundscapes and evocative cinematic worlds.
Featuring per-layer microtonal sequencers, custom single-knob effect chains, and master bus processing, Noctua is a rich and detailed cinematic instrument and sound design tool. It includes 100 presets, professionally designed by both Venus Theory and UVI.
At Noctua’s core is a flexible 2+1 layer design. Users can configure the 2 main layers with any sound from three categories, including; ‘Effects Box’, sourced from handmade FX box instruments designed by Venus Theory and processed with pedals and granular processing chains, ‘Analog’, recorded from a selection of analog synths and pedal chains, and ‘EMF’, electro-magnetic field recordings, transformed and multi-sampled using various techniques and effect chains to create usable sonic instruments. Finally, a morphable sub-oscillator delivers a rich and powerful low-end.
Each of the layers in Noctua has its own microtonal sequencer, offering built-in randomization and probability, allowing everything from subtle modulation to complex voicing and progressions. Noctua also offers a custom designed selection of one-knob FX chains, providing performance-based transformation over the sounds energy and texture, configurable per-layer reverb and delay send effects, and powerful master bus processing including overdrive, compressor, eq, and maximizer to finalize your sound.
Running in Falcon and the free UVI Workstation, Noctua is available now at no charge, a gift from UVI and Venus Theory to mark the season.
