Fors has recently released a new modal synthesizer instrument for Mac.
A 16-voice polyphonic synthesizer, Tela employs multiple bandpass filters with various input sources fed through to cause a reaction, resulting in an idiosyncratic sound and capabilities that go well beyond mimicking physical materials.
In a careful balance of depth and immediacy, Tela explores the inherent character and capabilities of modal synthesis. Like a practical joke, Tela bends a myriad of partials into perfect symmetrical waveforms only for them to dissolve into otherworldly timbres and textures mere seconds later. There are no rules.
The synth features a dynamic modal bank with ratcheting impulse generator, variable grain generator, bendable tonality control and shapeable contour control, and a space reverb effect. It comes with a single LFO per page, mono legato mode, patch randomizer, and 200 presets to get you started.
Available for Mac in CLAP and AU plugin formats, Tela is priced 59 EUR incl. VAT.
Additionally, Fors has announced an update for seven of its Max for Live devices, adding MPE pitch-bend compatibility, Ableton Push matrix mapping, and some under the hood maintenance.
Superberry, Doublet, Glänta, Lode, Opal (individual devices) and Kit are now all MPE pitch-bend enabled which makes them compatible with the tuning system in Live 12 and the Ableton Microtuner Max for Live device.
Chiral and the individual Opal devices are now fully Push-controllable with the addition of modulation matrix control.
And lastly, Opal and Opal-Ctl now have Swing per track, an oft-requested feature by many of our users.
