Performance Samples has announced the release of a Kontakt instrument library featuring a solo violin and solo cello with core articulations recorded in standard 1st-chair positions.
Created as an addendum to Pacific – Ensemble Strings, the new Pacific – Solo Strings was recorded in the same space as the rest of the Pacific orchestral project, allowing blending with the rest of the sections.
The library also comes with a new mic position, the section mic which is somewhere between the far/AB and close but strongly biasing towards close.
There are some familiar articulations in this library like the marcatos which were sampled in the same way as the marcatos on Pacific – Ensemble Strings. As well as the shorts which were rep-sampled as usual. There’s also a new articulation – motion tremolos – which was conceptualized on Voyage sessions. It’s technically measured but loosely played and super fast and it allows a bit more in the way of back and forth medium-to-fast lines, almost interval-esque without being a legato patch specifically. It has (limited) RR functionality.
Available for the full version of Kontakt 6.8.0 or higher, Pacific – Solo Strings is on sale for the intro price of $149 USD until September 16th, 2024 (regular $249 USD). Loyalty pricing is available and customers who’ve purchased Pacific – Ensemble Strings during its intro period can get Solo Strings for free.
Furthermore, customers who purchase Solo Strings during the introductory period can take advantage of add-on offers on two other new libraries:
- Vista II – Solo Cello Legato for $49 USD ($149 USD full): The first module in the Vista II series, exploring sympathetic-resonance legato.
- Fluid Shorts III for $69 USD ($169 USD full): Performance-sourced ensemble & solo string shorts with up to 16 dynamics.
