Reflex Acoustics has released a dynamic equalizer effect plugin that is designed to enhance low frequencies in music.

Low frequencies are notoriously vulnerable to masking, which can make them sound atonal and muddy. BaseViper is a new plugin that aims to unlock the power of your low end by attenuating the frequencies most likely to be interfering with your deepest tones—i.e. those at a distance of 12.2% above and below on the spectrum. This effect can help to open up your mix and give your low end a more transparent sound.

BaseViper features

  • User-adjustable EQ cut depth and Q factor (i.e. sharpness).
  • Variable frequency detection window from ~90 to ~360ms, with optional look-ahead function.
  • Fixed effect range of 0-200Hz.
  • Automatic make-up gain to match perceived loudness.
  • ~22ms latency on default settings; adjustable via detector window and look-ahead settings.
  • Supports common sample rates from 44.1 to 384kHz.

Available in VST3 and AU formats for Windows and Mac, the plugin is priced $50 USD. AAX support is coming soon.
