Waldorf Music has announced the release of a new virtual instrument that delivers a faithful recreation of its first generation Microwave Synthesizer based on the famous ASIC chip (Application Specific Integrated Circuit).
The Microwave 1 plugin was painstakingly recreated from the original hardware with all its idiosyncrasies and wonderful singularities.
35 years ago we released our first instrument, the Microwave… Its vibrate and distinctive sound transported the early wavetable sounds of the 80s into the rising electronic dance music of the following decade.
Massive bass lines, enigmatic wavetable modulations, brutal attacks and pads smooth as silk have inspired generations of musicians. The Microwave defined hybrid synthesis at its best with its unique interpretation of wavetable synthesis combined with analogue filters.
Now we bring this magical instrument back to your digital workstation: Microwave 1 Plug-in.
The instrument comes with all the original factory single and multi-mode sounds, in combination with new and modern sound presets. Original MIDI and Sysex dump files can be imported, and the plugin can also be used to control the original hardware.
Available in VST/VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats for Windows and Mac, Microwave 1 is on sale at an introductory price of 119 EUR (regular 149 EUR).
