Toontrack has announced the release of a new MIDI expansion for its EZkeys virtual instrument. The Folk Rock EZkeys MIDI pack is inspired by folk rock from the 1960s through to today.
In the wake of the pioneering acts that took the melodic expression and harmonic language of classic folk music and applied it in a rock band setting, waves of new artists came out in the 1960s and on. Since then, the lines between folk, singer-songwriter, indie and Americana have kept blurring, but still – with its basic, to-the-point hooks and unmistakable harmonies – that ever-so distinct folk feel is still as apparent as it ever was.
In this EZkeys MIDI pack, we’ve dug deep through the archives to come up with inspiration for a collection of material that doesn’t only cover the singer-songwriter- and Americana-related but also the Irish and the Celtic. Expect basic chord structures, big piano-driven hooks and backbeat-reliant rhythms – all fusing the melodic traits of folk with the power of rock.
