Rigid Audio has announced the release of a new virtual instrument that is designed to deliver “mysterious hybrid textures”, well suited for videogames and underscoring. Frustum includes 300 categorized presets and an easy-to-use preset browser that also allows you to save your own presets.

Frustum is based on a hybrid wavetable and sampler engine, that comes with around 700 MB of wavetables and samples. It features envelope control, reversed sample playback and effects to “spice up” things easily.

These include for example “Scatter” and “Soil” to randomly detune and add FM-like distortion to the sounds. A “Chop” effect can be used to rhythmically modulate the currently loaded preset. In addition to that, Frustum comes with a global algorithmic reverb and a master filter.

Furthermore, the plugin supports full host (DAW) MIDI learning and automation, and it has been designed for very low CPU and RAM usage.

Frustum is available for Windows and Mac in VST3 and AU plugin formats. It is on sale for the introduction price of $9 USD until October 1st, 2024 (regular $20 USD).
