Native Instruments is steadily building a formidable collection of KORE SoundPacks. The recently released Deep Transformations is the first SoundPack that doesn’t actually have any sounds.
From the product page:
DEEP TRANSFORMATIONS is the first effects-only KORE SOUNDPACK, harnessing the power of KORE’s integrated audio engines to turn KORE 2 and the free KORE PLAYER into a highly creative and unconventional multi-effects plug-in. Simply insert KORE 2 or KORE PLAYER on an audio or software instrument track and use the DEEP TRANSFORMATIONS effect patches to radically process vocals, drum loops, guitar, synth lines and more into something completely new and different. You’ll have to look elsewhere for standard effects; this SOUNDPACK provides highly creative and morph-able effects not found in any other software or hardware unit.
Deep Transformations comes with 150 effects, and a total of 1,200 sound variations. These effects are generated by the Guitar Rig, Absynth, FM8 and Reaktor engines, and the 30 effects that come with KORE.
Here’s the description of an effect called Delirious Mons:
The signal is first passed through a pitch-shifting reverse delay, then runs through a spring reverb for diffusion and two parallel filters, a panning stage and finally a tape-delay. The filters, pitch shift amount and panning are controlled by two synced LFOs, one of which runs twice as fast as the other; both have common controls. This results in a rhythmically very interesting panning/filtering/pitch-shifting effect.
It’s a bit hard to describe exactly what Deep Transformations can do, so let me just demonstrate how a simple beat turns into something completely different.
I could put up hours of me twiddling knobs with these Deep Transformations effects, as it’s just so much fun to do, but perhaps it makes more sense to check the NI website for some audio clips showcasing what Deep Transformations can do.
So what do I think?
I think this sound pack is pretty amazing. The effects are unique and inspirational and with 1,200 variations which you can modify and transform even into more sounds, it’s going to take quite a while to exhaust this extensive collection of effects.
Deep Transformations can do things I haven’t heard in any other plug-in before, and I’ve seen many. I’d say it’s perfectly suitable for anyone who is looking for something more than a simple effect.
Deep Transformations is available from the Native Instruments online shop for $79 USD / €69 EUR.
