Cycling ’74 has announced the release of Max 6, the latest version of the media development tools for Windows and Mac.
Enhancements to Max 6 include extensive user interface improvements, higher-quality audio, extended multi-processor support, organization tools for projects, and improved OpenGL animation and rendering tools.
Cycling ’74 also released Gen, a high-performance new patching domain that lets you create powerful audio, video, or Jitter matrix objects without leaving the comfort of Max.
“With Max 6,” explains Cycling ’74 CTO Joshua Kit Clayton, “we’ve made a concerted effort to re-imagine the beginning user’s experience, while at the same time making advanced user workflows more efficient. We’re excited by what’s come out of our development efforts for Max 6, and even more excited about what we have planned as Max continues to evolve.”
Max version 6 is now available to purchase for $399 USD. The Gen add-on is $100 USD. The Max 6 upgrade retail price is $199 USD, and is also available as a discounted bundle with Gen for $249 USD.
Customers who purchased Max on or after July 12, 2011 are eligible for a free upgrade. Academic discounts are available, and there is a new annual subscription plan available to educational institutions.
