Ableton has announced the release of Live 11 Lite, adding new and updated devices, more sounds, a higher scene count and functionality that gives musicians a full music production palette.
The free upgrade includes support for MPE-capable hardware and MPE Control, a device that lets you edit the pitch, slide and pressure envelopes of each note to refine the expression in your music.
The following audio effects were added to Live 11 Lite:
- Phaser-Flanger: A time-based effect with a lush sound, wide frequency and modulation ranges, and a Doubler mode for short modulatable delay.
- Limiter: A studio standard for all music styles, Limiter sets an absolute output limit on any signal. Useful for mastering a track or on any signal that cannot exceed a certain volume.
- Saturator: A waveshaping distortion for adding dirt, punch and warmth.
Musicians can now add up to 16 Scenes in Session View for more varied arrangements and space to experiment with ideas. Also new is Expression Control, a device that gives you detailed control of how MIDI parameters such as velocity, modwheel, pitch bend, aftertouch, and keytrack respond in Live. Live now listens to and adjusts its tempo based on incoming audio from another musician or other gear like drum machines in real time.
Additional updates to previous version of Live Lite include an expanded Core Library including new sounds, drum kits, Racks, Grooves, loops and MIDI clips, rack improvements, improved follow actions, and updated devices, including Redux and Chorus-Ensemble.
Ableton Live 11 Lite is included in a wide range of hardware products for free. Owners of any previous version of Live Lite can upgrade for free.
