AudioThing has released an update to its lofi tape effect plugin Reels, a tape emulation plugin with built-in echo section and tape start and tape stop effect.
Version 1.5.1 adds support for the CLAP plugin format and up to 16x oversampling. The update also improved CPU and memory usage, and it fixes some minor bugs, compatibility issues with Pro Tools 2021.12, and a problem where popups were not opening correctly with multiple instances in Logic Pro.
Based on an old Japanese portable tape recorder with a very distinct Lo-Fi analog sound, Reels emulates all the imperfections of consumer reel-to-reel recorders. We have modeled three different 1/4” tape frequency responses and saturations, along with all the analog imperfections of tape recording / playback.
Reels will add a very rough retro analog sound to your mixes. If you are looking for a Hi-Fi mastering tape emulation, this is not the plugin for you!
Regularly priced 59 USD/EUR, Reels for Windows and Mac (VST/VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP) is on sale for 39 USD/EUR until December 13th, 2022.
The offer is available at the AudioThing store and from distributor Plugin Boutique.
