AudioThing has released an update to its tape emulation plugin with built-in echo section and tape start and tape stop effect.
Version 1.5.3 of Reels adds brightness and contrast graphics controls, and fixes some issues with the echo feedback getting too hot causing CPU spikes and latency compensation filtering the dry signal when oversampled.
Based on an old Japanese portable tape recorder with a very distinct Lo-Fi analog sound, Reels emulates all the imperfections of consumer reel-to-reel recorders.
In celebration of the update, Reels is on sale for 35 USD/EUR until March 1st, 2024 (regular 59 USD/EUR). The plugin is available for Windows, Mac and Linux in VST/VST3, AU, AAX and CLAP formats.
