Blanketfort Audio has announced the release of a new instrument crafted by sampling sustain and harmonics of an acoustic guitar, layered with with sounds from a children’s toy, and processed through a Technics cassette deck.

The result is an instrument that lies somewhere between a guitar, a harpsichord, a celeste, and an organ, yet it is distinctly none of these. These initial samples became the ‘direct’ sample sets. To create the illusion of a ‘real’ instrument, these samples were reamped back into my empty studio to produce the ‘room’ sample sets, adding natural spatial depth to the sound.

For additional texture, the samples were recorded and redubbed using my reliable Sony Walkman, creating the familiar ‘Half-Speed’ set, similar to Melloharp (Dstry) and SR Drums (HSW).

Available in VST3 and AU plugin formats for Windows and Mac, Harmonicorde is priced $29 USD. An introductory 30% discount is available with code hcorde30off at the checkout until June 16th, 2024.
