Plugin Boutique has announced a promotion on Cherry Audio’s virtual drum machine that accurately recreates the punchy analog sounds of one of the first true classic drum machines, the Roland CompuRhythm CR-78.
The CR-78 Drum Machine comes with all 34 factory preset rhythms and “variation/fill-in” patterns from the original.
Cherry Audio has done away with the original’s complex beat programming, replaced it with a familiar button-per-step interface, and added an easy-to-use song mode for pattern chaining. CR-78 also includes over 250 additional rhythm and sound presets, including special categories that go far beyond the classic CR-78 tones and patterns.
Unlike sample-based emulations, Cherry Audio’s CR-78 uses modeled synthesis to recreate the original’s classic tones, providing a panel with fully editable sound parameters. Four studio-quality effects are available, with a unique send button UI for each individual tone in the effects and mixer section, which also includes a complete mixer, compressor, and a six-band graphic EQ.
On sale for $39 USD instead of $49 USD, the plugin comes in VST/VST3, AU and AAX formats and as standalone software for Windows and Mac. The offer expires March 2nd, 2025.
