Reverb Machine has announced the release of a new sample pack and Live Pack that recreate the sound of the R-8, a classic drum machine from the late ’80s/early ’90s that was used on Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works 85-92, The Cure’s Disintegration, Prince’s Diamonds and Pearls, and early Autechre records.
DrumVerse R8 includes hundreds of samples from the original drum machine and all of its available expansion cards.
It’s pretty exhaustive, and because the R-8 includes samples of other classic machines (the TR-808, TR-909 and CR-78) alongside real drum sounds, the resulting collection offers a comprehensive selection of drum samples.
There are two formats available: a Sample Pack that features 528 WAV one-shots for use in any sampler or DAW and an Ableton Live Pack that includes 380 Instrument Racks and 50 custom Drum Rack kits.
