Flintpope has launched Seltsam for Kontakt, a free collection of 16 sounds that explore “STRANGE”.
Utilising a deliberately random multi-tracking in Ableton of Komplete10 instruments and FX Flintpope made a number of samples that had a core key yet little sense of musical beauty. The wavs were then treated to Audacity’s range of FX and “Create DTMF Tone” etc. to add some random structures. Going against the grain of creating balanced sounds the aim was to get surprising individual samples that could become the germ of a new tune or kick-off an improvisation into unexpected musical areas.
The samples were then further treated inside Kontakt with convolution reverbs that added another dimension. The results are rhythmic, textured and dripping with atmosphere.
