Impact Soundworks has announced the release of a unique collection of 20 deeply-sampled core instruments inspired by the Rhodes, Clavinet, Wurlitzer, DX7, JD-800, and other era-defining keyboards. Users can choose from 250+ distinctive, inspiring presets that cover a wide range of styles and genres, or easily design their own custom multi-layered keyboard sound.

Altera Keys‘ presets cover a wide range of sounds: smooth bell tones, gorgeous glassy tines, classic synthwave sounds, biting organ funk, shimmering pads, growling basses, and wildly experimental and textural sounds, all organized into easy-to-browse categories. Altera Keys is ideal for live performance, with up to 12 dynamic layers per instrument.

In addition to the many hand-sculpted presets, Altera Keys also allows users to “create their own dream keyboard” with a straightforward and easy-to-use interface that gives users control over the 5 distinct layers of the sound:

  • Keys: Which keyboard/synth to use as a base.
  • Tines: Aadd acoustic/synthetic realism with unique attack noises.
  • Release: Choose from an array of release types.
  • Shimmer: Add a reverb from a selection of carefully hand-sculpted, model-specific reverbs.
  • Pad: Thicken the sound with a selection from ten synth pad types.

A random button lets users audition dozens of possibilities in minutes and discover completely unique and original sounds.

“This is our biggest keyboard instrument ever, and I hope that producers & musicians will enjoy auditioning and playing its many sounds as much as we did during development,” said Impact Soundworks owner & CEO Andrew Aversa. “We always know when we have a winner when hours seem to pass by just playing and tweaking patches. It’s that fun.”

Altera Keys for Kontakt 7.8 or higher and the free Kontakt Player is available to purchase for the introductory price of $129 USD (regular $149 USD). Crossgrades are available for some customers.
