Kuassa has released a free update to its Efektor series pitch shifter effect plugin. Version 1.1.0 of Whammo comes with a second engine mode, expanding its versatility.
While the first mode is optimized for standard guitar tuning, mode 2 is tailored for low-tuned guitars and 7–8 string setups, providing improved performance for heavier tones.
Efektor Whammo has smooth pitch-shifting and pitch-bending action in either direction, while also maintaining crisp attacks with every pick. The unit can also be controlled via MIDI. When paired, this is the ultimate fun for any guitarist who needs a simple, convenient way to manipulate pitch using their software counterparts.
What about chords? Using pitch-shifted or pitch-bent chords gives a similar result to the “chord mode” from the latest hardware pedal effects. A minor or diminished chord may “flutter” in a musical and somewhat desirable way. The chord flutters in Radiohead’s “Iron Lung” are a great example.
Customers can purchase Efektor Whammo (VST/VST3, AU and AAX) for $29 USD at Plugin Boutique and from the Kuassa store during a Holiday Sale until January 1st, 2025. The updated Amplifikation 360 can access the Efektor Whammo module by downloading the latest version (1.2.9).
