Loops de la Crème has announced the release of Piezo Snares, a sample pack featuring 241 highly original snare drum samples recorded with contact microphones.
Recently, I had a bit of free time at the studio and ran a small test with a contact mic used on various parts of a snare drum. The recorded sounds were cool and surprising: some of the samples sounded like heavy processed snare drums, very ‘in-your-face’, others were reminiscent of vintage drum machine sounds, and others were just crazy deep impacts with tons of bass! A whole pannel of useful original sounds, with great potential to layer on top of other samples and further process :)
So I grabbed another contact mic, my favourite 2 channel DI, gathered a couple of snare drums and different sticks ,mallets and brushes, and tried to create a snare sample pack entirely based on contact mics recordings.
From this recording session, 152 raw samples were edited. They are very direct, detailed and punchy, and will respond well to EQ, compression and reverb. They are organised in 8 practical folders. The pack also includes 89 reamped and layered samples, tough and quite original, ready to be used in your tracks :) These were created using hardware and software EQs, compressors and reverbs.
The sample pack is available for the introductory price of 6 EUR until November 1st, 2015 (regular 12 EUR). A free pack with 21 piezo snare samples is available from the product page.
