MOD Audio UG is the official owner of all assets from the insolvent MOD Devices GmbH. The new entity, recently co-founded by Gianfranco Ceccolini and Andreas Umland, is the result of a successful reboot process conducted alongside the MOD platform’s community of users.
Following MOD’s tradition of transparency, once the now deceased MOD Devices GmbH became insolvent, the founders made a full exhibition of the situation to the users. Opening up a discussion about the future of the platform – which heavily relies on Open Source technologies – deep forum conversations and a comprehensive community wide survey helped shape restructuring plans. This resulted in a fundraiser with decisive financial participation from the community of users.
In operation since October 1st, 2022, the new MOD Audio UG focuses on the popular MOD Dwarf foot pedal for the guitar & bass audiences. Former devices – MOD Duo and Duo X – continue to be supported. Furthermore, the company carries along the commitment to honor the fulfillment of still outstanding crowdfunded units from the very successful MOD Dwarf campaign that happened in early 2020, before the series of events that led to the former company demise.
Moving forward, the company will improve the experience of MOD device users by a continuous offer of rich ready-to-use audio applications and cloud powered services, making the musician’s journey easier, more joyful and collaborative. Alongside, a further development of overseas markets is planned, especially USA and Japan.
The new company continues to operate from Berlin, but is moving to a new location in Adlershof, Germany’s leading science and technology park as well as Berlin’s top media hub. During October, the team at MOD Audio is working on bringing the cloud services of the platform back online – namely the Plugin Store and the Pedalboard Feed.
Relaunching their production supply chain, MOD Audio plans to ship the MOD Dwarf again to dealers and crowdfunding backers in November.
