discoDSP has announced that it has taken over the OB-Xd synthesizer project. The OB-Xd is a free emulation of the Oberheim OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 synthesizers.
The OB-Xd synth was designed to sound as good and as rich as the original. It implements micro random detuning, which is a big part of that sound.
While not copying originals, some of the features were taken to a better point. Continuous blendable multimode filter (HP-Notch(BP)-HP in 12 dB mode and 4-1 pole in 24 dB mode). 32 and 64 bit versions included.
Thanks to 2Dat for the original Ob-Xd and Soshi Studio for giving the rights to continue this wonderful product.
OB-Xd is available for download for Windows, Mac & Linux (VST).

Just made two records with it today – amazing sounds – Sounds like my old board! No need to get a Matrix either – Only thing that I need to do is get those knobs mapped out. This is a must to have in your collection!. Cheers…
I’ve been trying it since reading this article, and I should say that I really love this thing. I find it is not _entirely_ convincing, but it’s sound is remarkably familiar nonetheless. Anyone that doesn’t have the real thing, and cannot shell out for OP-X should try this!
Thanks for sharing, Koen!
