Plughugger has introduced two new soundsets for the Omnisphere virtual instrument from Spectrasonics.
Based on sounds recorded from a Virus TI synthesizer sampled through an Ensoniq EPS 16+ hardware sampler, Reduction is a slowed down and melancholic soundset aimed for lofi ambient productions, while Carbon is a dance music soundset inspired by the music scene of the ’90s.
For decades, the Access Virus have been the industry standard for dance music as well as cinematic ambient productions.
For Carbon and Reduction, Plughugger first sampled all sounds into an Ensoniq EPS 16+ hardware sampler using fairly low quality settings and low sample rates. Together with sampling at lower input volumes, the result is what a Virus would have sounded like if it was released in the middle of the 80s. Modern yet with a dusty lofi feel.
Featuring arpeggios and sequences, drums and percussion, effects, pads and strings, bass, synth sounds, and textures and soundscapes, Carbon contains a total of 172 sounds, while Reduction contains 187 sounds.
The soundsets are on sale for the intro price of 4.90 EUR each until January 12th, 2025 (regular 24.90 EUR). Use coupon code LOFIAMBIENT to get the discount for Reduction, and use coupon code LOFIDANCE to get 80% off on Reduction.
