Plughugger has introduced a new hardware-centric soundset for the Omnishphere 2 virtual instrument from Spectrasonics. White Wolf is based on 3 pieces of hardware from Akai: Timbre Wolf (polyphonic analog synthesizer), Rhythm Wolf (drum machine) and Tom Cat (drum machine).
Plughugger approached the sound design on this soundset with the goal of creating vintage electronica sounds from the 70s and 80s inspired by artists such as Jean-Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream.
The majority of the sounds is synths and keyboards, arpeggios and sequences and synth strings & pads.
Apart from the vintage electronic sounds, as a sonic counterpart, Plughugger also processed a handful of sounds through a Sherman Filterbank, and built 70+ extra sounds around these. The sounds of “Bad Wolf” are a bit harsher and nastier, while still keeping one foot in the early days of old analog synthesizers.
A total of 239 sounds (168 sounds of White Wolf and 71 sounds of Bad Wolf), the sound library is available to purchase for the intro price of 9.90 EUR until May 14th, 2023 (regular 29.90 EUR). Use coupon code WOLFPACK at the checkout to get the discount.
