PreSonus has announced an agreement with Mix The Music, a new online store specializing in multitrack audio files that allow producers, mix engineers, musicians, music educators, and other music lovers to download, listen to, and remix songs using multitracks created from the original recordings by major artists and film/game composers.
Available now, Mix The Music enables you to download officially licensed major-label multitrack recordings, containing the stems, from Universal Music Group, Fox Film Music, WaterTower Records, Real World Records, Electronic Arts, and more.
The files are in PreSonus’ new .multitrack format and can be opened, played, and edited using any edition of PreSonus’ Studio One 4 (version 4.5.4 or later) recording and production software, including Studio One Professional, Artist, and Prime. Studio One is the only software that supports the new .multitrack format.
Mix The Music offers a wide variety of multitrack music, including contemporary and classic hits, film scores, and video game scores, and the library is rapidly growing. The ever-expanding catalog launches with a range of tracks spanning all genres and time periods, from the latest hits to the most timeless songs, including the score for the Electronic Arts video game Anthem.
Once a .multitrack file is downloaded and opened in Studio One, you have independent access to the original individual instrument and vocal tracks. Hear how classic recordings were created, check out every nuance of your favorite performer’s techniques, play along with legendary artists using your own custom mix, even record your own parts—all with Mix The Music and Studio One 4.
Although the download agreements do not permit you to release your own remixes of Mix The Music songs, there are no limits on the amount of fun you can have and what you can learn. Mix The Music multitracks also make great educational tools for music teachers and students.
