The Loopmasters Artist Series features exclusive collections of royalty free samples from some of the best known producers worldwide. One of the current titles in the Artist Series is Aquasky – Electro House and Breaks.

As someone who closely followed the drum & bass scene in the 90’s, the name Aquasky certainly does ring a bell. Releases on labels like Moving Shadow and Reinforced make sure Aquasky’s roots will not be forgotten.

In their more recent productions however, they have lowered the beats per minute a bit to suit the genre of Electro House and Breaks. This is why, instead of Amen breaks and Reese bass lines, the Aquasky sample library contains 1.5 GB of breakbeats, house drumloops, “cone melting bass-lines” (not such a far throw from drum & bass after all) and inspiring melodic loops.

The Aquasky – Electro House and Breaks product page reads:

If you are looking to make serious Breaks or Electro House flavoured productions then look no further than this awesome release from Aquasky and Loopmasters, its full to the brim with useful inspiring sounds and its all been produced with great attention to detail and a no holds barred approach.

The Artist Series titles feature various formats (Acidised Wav, RMX friendly Rex2 Loops, Apple Loops, Reason Refill) and include patches ready for Reason, Kontakt, Halion, EXS24, Emulator X2, and Ableton Live.

So besides hundreds of drum, bass and musical loops, you also get about 150 bass multis & sounds, drum kits and hits, fx and instrument multis & sounds.

The loops are divided into separate folders for easy browsing: bass, drums, instruments and vocals. Many samples have several variations (i.e. hihats only) which is great for building intro’s. Of course you can always cut up the samples to create your own beats, or use the drum kits and hits to add your own accents.

Although I usually don’t use any vocal samples, the performances of Ragga Twins and Bex are a great addition; perfect for this genre.

Aquasky also included a full remix pack for Have a Good Time, the second 12″ from Passenger Records mix album “This Way Up”.

So what do I think?

This sample library is an excellent resource for anyone who is looking to produce electronic music. Lots of original material, combined with oldskool classics, makes a perfect mix for producing tunes with a unique yet familiar sound.

The guys from Aquaksy deliver samples that will lift your productions to a higher level; sounds which shine in quality and usability. Instant inspiration!

I was excited to find a lot of great instrument patches, which are useful in a wide variety of electronic music genres.

Aquasky – Electro House and Breaks offers great value for money and I can recommend it to anyone looking for quality beats and breaks.
