Samplicity has announced the release of an update to its highly acclaimed studio reverb plugin for Windows and Mac. Version 1.2 of Studio Berlin features multi-threaded processing, increasing its performance by several factors.
The professional reverb plugin is designed to reproduce the rich acoustics and signature sound of a famous German orchestral studio, captured with 7 high grade microphones. Composers and mixing engineers can now position real and virtual instruments as if they were recorded in the studio at any of the 18 provided positions.
Berlin Studio features advanced time-alignment, an approach that is normally implemented with delays on source signals. To keep playability unaffected, Berlin Studio does not use delays, but it bypasses the time/distance from the source to the hall microphones. Time-alignment can remove perceivable separate attacks from the source signals and soften their transients.
Each channel in Berlin Studio has a 4-band equalizer for adjusting the channel’s output. The early reflections and reverb tails can be independently adjusted. Each channel also has M/S width control. Reverb decays can be smoothly adjusted from 50% to 200%.
The plugin contains a proprietary zero latency multichannel convolution engine, running several layers of scheduled processing tasks.
Currently on sale for 169 EUR instead of 199 EUR (prices ex. VAT where applicable), Berlin Studio comes in VST/VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats. It can be used on up to 3 computers at the same time (6 activation version is also available).
New users can try Berlin Studio for free with a 14-day trial version.
