At AES NY 2023, Sonarworks has announced the integration of SoundID Reference for multichannel and Avid Pro Tools | MTRX family interfaces.

The solution combines the precision of Sonarworks’ room calibration technology with the exceptional sound quality of Pro Tools | MTRX interfaces to make studio calibration faster and easier for Dolby Atmos professionals and multichannel studios.

Achieving accurate and reliable sound from multichannel systems is challenging and that’s where SoundID Reference can help. The software delivers a high accuracy calibration of frequency response and time alignment of channels with sub-millisecond accuracy including the LFE channel time alignment. SoundID Reference allows calibration of multichannel setups up to 9.1.6 Atmos and meets Dolby requirements for Atmos room tuning.

The SoundID Reference integration with Pro Tools | MTRX family interfaces allows a user to upload the measured speaker profile to their Pro Tools | MTRX interface with a push of a button. This release eliminates any need for manual inputs, allowing anyone to calibrate and start mixing in Dolby Atmos in less than an hour.

“We are excited to partner with Sonarworks to bring their room calibration method into the Avid ecosystem,” said Mark Corbin, Senior Principal Product Manager, Avid. “Not only has it drastically simplified a cumbersome process, but its results are difficult to argue with. Now anyone who owns a Pro Tools | MTRX II, MTRX Studio, or even a MTRX with SPQ card can confidently and easily tune their space to ensure the absolute best possible mix.”

“Sonarworks software provided the missing puzzle piece I was searching for: How to rein in my entire Atmos speaker set and make them sound cohesive and uniform.” – Richard Furch, Music Engineer with six GRAMMY-winning albums.

Avid will debut the integration with SoundID Reference at the AES Show (booth 508). The integration will be available for Pro Tools MTRX interface users shortly after the AES Show.

SoundID Reference for Multichannel is available for purchase with the measurement microphone for $549 USD and $499 USD without the microphone.
