Soniccouture has announced an update to its virtual instrument that combines the old school drum machine with round robin samples, multi-channel sounds, and generative sequencers.
Version 1.5 of AC-DR comes with a new Blocks sequencer and a clap module.
It features acoustic drums recorded in innovative new ways to achieve a warm, dry, chunky sound. There are no traditional velocity layers, only ‘normal’ + ‘accent’. Each of these layers has 10 round robins which gives the drums a living, organic feel.
Changes in AC-DR v1.5
- Hand-Clap Module: A classic drum machine vibe, and essential for Trap, House and Techno. A full set of Normal + Accent samples with 10 round-robins on each, it sounds mechanized yet alive. The echo chamber samples accentuate slight pitch changes into searing tails.
- New Beat Tools: Blocks – A kind of hybrid of Beat-Shifter and Poly Beats, Blocks lets you create multiple bars with varying speeds and rhythmic patterns.
The Kontakt Player-powered instrument library is available to purchase for 149 USD/EUR. Existing owners of AC-DR can update for free via Native Access.
