Sonimus has launched a new audio plugin featuring 8 interchangeable modules that pay homage to the legendary “American Equalizer.”

A-EQ lets you tailor your signal path to perfection and explore endless possibilities for customization.

A-EQ introduces a modular approach with eight interchangeable modules, allowing you to extensively customize your signal path. It includes four bands reminiscent of the famous and powerful American classic EQ unit, along with three additional bands offering continuously adjustable parameters. The Preamp and Filters module further refines your audio.

Additionally, each band features the HiQ mode, which maintains the original hardware’s bell-shaped characteristics but with a narrower bandwidth, providing precise and surgical control over your audio. A-EQ’s design prioritizes creative freedom and puts complete control of your audio processing experience in your hands.

A-EQ features

  • 8 modules that you can freely exchange, rearrange, delete, and duplicate.
  • 3 free bands to shape your own tones and 4 selected bands true to the original API 550.
  • HiQ bell mode like the original hardware but with a narrower bandwidth.
  • Shelf curve with fully usability across all parameters as the original 550.
  • Bell curve for sweet coloration to any input signal, true to the original hardware.
  • 2 optional saturation modes: Line (subtle distortion, high dynamic range) and Mic (hotter signal, compressed, lower dynamic range)
  • HP & LP filters faithfully tuned to the original 215 filter design.
  • Oversampling feature up to x16.
  • Starting point presets for most instruments and mixing scenarios.

Available in VST/VST3, AU and AAX for Windows and Mac, A-EQ is priced $129 USD. Owners of A-Console, SonEQ 2, Burnley 73 or StonEQ 4k can get the new plugin at a discount.
