Sound Dust has announced the release of Cloud Viola, a new hybrid instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
Cloud Viola is a 1.7GB sample library with some special (and frankly impossible) articulations that can go from haunted ballroom to a swarm of angry bees but still sound “stringy”. The starting point is a humble 17th century classical stringed instrument, a ball of course garden string, a very nice hardware reverb unit and a lot ingenuity.
Cloud Viola is great for adding interesting texture to a “proper” orchestra, using MIDI controllers and an expression pedal she can be played with organic expressiveness and genuine emotion. But unlike more conventional classical instruments she is completely at home with contemporary electronics and sound design elements.
The library is available for purchase for £35 GBP. An introductory offer of 20% off is available until May 4th, 2015. Use the code icestorm at checkout.
